Blog Post #1

Hi Amira,

It was really interesting to read your blog post. I also prefer asynchronous online learning because of the flexibility it provides. It can be challenging to do asynchronous online learning, as it doesn’t provide a set schedule for learning. Due to that, it can be very easy to fall behind on topics. However, with a good schedule, this challenge can be overcome.

I agree with you on digital identity. I think it is really important to be mindful of what to post online as it can affect a person’s career and education. I think it is really great that before you post you reflect on your posts and think about how it reflects your values. I feel like more people should implement this practice before they post to prevent themselves from causing damage to their digital identity.

Hi Gia,
It was nice to read your blog post. I liked how you pointed out that open education allows a low-cost education and creates a more equitable learning environment. I would like to add that it also allows people who live in different locations to reach education. People who live on poorer sides of the world can access education on the richer sides of the world which in turn can create a more equitable learning environment.

It was really interesting to read that you prefer face-to-face learning. I also like face-to-face learning because of the opportunities it provides for me to connect with classmates and professors better. However, I would still prefer online learning due to the flexibility it provides.

My Experience with Open and Distributed Education

Hi Nathan,
It was really interesting to read about your own experiences with distributed learning. I totally agree with you on how the pandemic normalized online learning and I believe this normalization is helping a lot of students get online learning and help them move ahead. Also, thank you for sharing the Harvard course, I didn’t know it was that easy to register for courses online.

I think one of the challenges with online education could be not being able to connect with your classmates . Therefore, it was exciting to read that even though your class was online, you could find classmates through Discord and form connections with them. I think it is great to find classmates whom you can ask for help and help them. In my opinion, having these connections in an online learning environment helps online learning become more effective and motivates me more.

About Me

Hi Everyone,

My name is Nisa Ozel. I am a fourth year student, majoring in Economics. One of the most significant experiences I’ve had in my educational journey was the transition to online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. This introduced online education and I have enjoyed learning online very much. This was also one of the reasons why I was interested in this course and wanted to learn more about education.
