Blog Post #3

Hi Gia,

I really enjoyed reading your blog post. I agree with your points on digital classroom benefit from multiple representation of learning. I also really liked your points about digital equity and EdTech.Access the online learning platforms usually taken for granted and not everyone has the same access to internet and technological devices. I also agree with you that the instructors can be the middle man to bridge these gaps in education. Having understanding instructors that recognize these challenges can make a difference in the students education. Overall, your blog post was really interesting  an enjoyable to read.

The Future of Tech and Education: The Role of Universal Design

Hi Chad,

I really enjoyed reading your blog post. Your example of videos not having captions shows that how these little details can affect students with disabilities. Educators should be more considerate and careful when they design their course. I really like your suggestion about training educators on UDL principles. This will help spread the principles of UDL and might cause more educators to adapt these principles in their teaching. I also like your suggestion about setting up feedback system. I think it is very important for students to receive detailed and timely feedback on their work. Overall, I really enjoyed reading your blog post.

Accessible Learning Spaces

Hi Nathan,

I really like your discussion of Universal Design for Learning (UDL).I really like how you define UDL and how you explain it’s importance for accessibility in online learning. I agree with you that it is really important to accommodate different learning styles in a learning environment. The example you gave was really interesting to listen to and see how UDL impacts learners.I think, it is really important to expand UDL and try to accommodate different students in a learning environment rather than using the traditional method of one size fits all learning. Educators should recognize that not every student is the same and act accordingly in a teaching environment.  Overall, I really enjoyed reading your blog post.

Hi Justin,

It was exciting to read your blog post. I liked the part about exploring digital spaces. I agree with you that the digital learning space is a very powerful tool and it is very critical to learn how to use it. Therefore, learning digital literacy is critical for students in an online learning environment f. Digital literacy allows students to navigate these digital spaces carefully and help students use these resources to their advantage. I also agree with your perspective on the role of the instructor in an online learning environment. I think instructor presence in an online learning environment is vital for student engagement and motivation. The responsibilities of an instructor in an online platform are different then an in-person instructor, as you have mentioned.

Hi Kate,

It was really interesting to read your blog and learn more about constructivism. It was also exciting to read about your struggle with online learning, as I have also struggled with the same aspects of online learning. I think constructivism is an effective learning theory that should be applied to online learning to create a more engaging learning environment. I also agree with your perspective on learning places. With online learning, learning is not about the location anymore. The notion of going to school and classroom to learn is evolving. Therefore, people can individualize their learning spaces and find what works best for them. This new notion of learning spaces offers new opportunities for students. I think the institutions should also embrace this new notion of learning spaces to enhance individual learning.

Hi Amira,

It was really interesting to read your blog post. I also prefer asynchronous online learning because of the flexibility it provides. It can be challenging to do asynchronous online learning, as it doesn’t provide a set schedule for learning. Due to that, it can be very easy to fall behind on topics. However, with a good schedule, this challenge can be overcome.

I agree with you on digital identity. I think it is really important to be mindful of what to post online as it can affect a person’s career and education. I think it is really great that before you post you reflect on your posts and think about how it reflects your values. I feel like more people should implement this practice before they post to prevent themselves from causing damage to their digital identity.

Hi Gia,
It was nice to read your blog post. I liked how you pointed out that open education allows a low-cost education and creates a more equitable learning environment. I would like to add that it also allows people who live in different locations to reach education. People who live on poorer sides of the world can access education on the richer sides of the world which in turn can create a more equitable learning environment.

It was really interesting to read that you prefer face-to-face learning. I also like face-to-face learning because of the opportunities it provides for me to connect with classmates and professors better. However, I would still prefer online learning due to the flexibility it provides.

My Experience with Open and Distributed Education

Hi Nathan,
It was really interesting to read about your own experiences with distributed learning. I totally agree with you on how the pandemic normalized online learning and I believe this normalization is helping a lot of students get online learning and help them move ahead. Also, thank you for sharing the Harvard course, I didn’t know it was that easy to register for courses online.

I think one of the challenges with online education could be not being able to connect with your classmates . Therefore, it was exciting to read that even though your class was online, you could find classmates through Discord and form connections with them. I think it is great to find classmates whom you can ask for help and help them. In my opinion, having these connections in an online learning environment helps online learning become more effective and motivates me more.
